The Interim Management Association (IMA) is the trade association for the leading UK interim management service providers. All member companies must be part of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), be a stand-alone company or separately identifiable division of a larger organisation, have been trading at the right level for over 3 years and accept the IMA Code of Practice. In addition all members are covered by the REC disciplinary process.

The aims of the IMA are to promote the industry by collective action and to raise the standards of those involve in it. The Association currently has almost 30 members who meet once a quarter to decide on the strategic direction and to discuss matters of mutual interest. It is run by an Executive Committee with a chairman and officers elected from and by the membership. The committee is supported by a full-time secretariat from the REC and a part-time Industry Champion.

The Association promotes the industry by advertising, marketing and PR in addition to the work carried out by individual members. The IMA actively supports the REC in its lobbying and influencing campaigns and has links with other trade bodies such as the CBI and Professional Contractors Group and various business schools. In addition the IMA runs a highly successful workshop for potential interim managers.
